Documents

• Passport: pages showing photo, personal details, issue and expiry dates
• National identity card (if you have one)
• Proof of change of name, if applicable (marriage/divorce certificate, registry document, etc.)
• Proof you have enough money for stay/return (bank statements, pay slips, tax records, etc.)
• Letter from Australian citizen/permanent resident relative or friend (if visiting/staying with them)
• Proof of ties/home (employer return letter, school enrollment, family evidence, house/assets documentation)
• Invitation from host (for business), conference registration or employer letter (for business visitors)
• Military service record/discharge papers (if applicable)
• Police certificate (if requested)
• Form 956a or Form 956 (if nominating someone for assistance/correspondence)
• Form 1229 or statutory declaration with ID (if child under 18 not travelling with both parents)
• Birth certificate showing both parents (or family book/court/government document if not available)
• Adoption papers or court orders, if applicable (for children)
• Proof of student's current enrollment at school/college/university (for children)
• Form 1257 (if under-18 applicant not staying with relative/legal guardian)
• Proof of relationship (birth/marriage certificate for dependants 18+)
• Proof of 12 months dependency (for dependants 18+; residence, studies or tax records)
• Original and translated documents (translations including translator's details if not NAATI accredited)
