Initial stay: 12 months.
Documents
- Birth certificate showing names of both parents or equivalent identity documents
- Passport pages showing photo, personal details, and dates
- National identity card (if you have one)
- Evidence of change of name if applicable
- Statements from 2 witnesses who know you and your spouse (Form 888)
- Evidence that you and your prospective spouse have met face-to-face as adults
- Letter from the wedding officiant or evidence of plans to marry within 9 months of visa grant
- Written statements showing history of relationship
- Divorce documents, death certificates, separation documents or statutory declarations if previously married
- For dependants: identity documents, relationship evidence, health exams, character docs (if aged 16/17), adoption/court orders if applicable, proof of school enrolment if applicable, parental consent docs (Form 1229)
- Evidence of financial dependence for dependants over 18 (if included)
- Police certificates from each country you lived in for 12+ months since age 16
- Form 80 (Character assessment for all applicants 16+/served in armed forces)
