What is important for proving marriage, partnership, parentage, custody, dependency or another qualifying relationship?

The adoption must be valid in Sweden under the laws regulating adoption. The adopting parent(s) must first get the Social Welfare Board's approval; without it a child abroad may not be adopted by anyone in Sweden, and bringing a child without it can lead to a fine. A custody transfer is not an adoption, and foreign custody decisions apply in Sweden only if supported by law.
