How does the application work at a high level, what rights does the family member receive, how long does the status last, and how can it become independent or longer-term where officially stated?

Family members who received derived status keep it after divorce or death. Senegal, with UNHCR and international organisations, assists family reunification of refugees and stateless persons. Holders of refugee or stateless status have the same rights as nationals in areas including healthcare, work, property, justice, social security, housing, education and freedom of movement. The official source does not state an application procedure specific to family members or the duration of the status.
