For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?

What short-visit purposes does this route cover?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the visit purposes this route covers.

What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

Hong Kong SAR: an additional 90 days of visa-free stay in Hungary under the bilateral arrangement after exhaustion of the 90-day Schengen visa-free stay, or after expiry of a residence permit issued by another EU or Schengen state; withdrawal of that permit does not qualify. The traveller need not leave the Schengen area before starting the Hungarian additional stay. If the 90 Schengen visa-free days were exhausted and the traveller already left Schengen, re-entry for this stay must be through Hungary’s external border. The additional stay is valid only in Hungary: the traveller must not enter another Schengen state during it and must leave the Schengen area directly from Hungary on its last day. It cannot be combined with another Member State’s bilateral additional stay. For entry to Hungary before the ordinary Schengen stay is exhausted, the authority refers to 90 visa-free days within six months from first Schengen entry. The additional stay cannot be used for study or work that requires a residence permit.
