The maximum visa-free stay under a bilateral agreement varies by country: citizens of Argentina, Chile, Israel, the Republic of Korea, Costa Rica, Malaysia and Uruguay may stay a maximum of an additional 90 days; citizens of Singapore a maximum of an additional 30 days, after which up to 60 additional days can be granted on the basis of a Schengen visa-free stay.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

At entry the traveller may ask the Foreign Police officer at border control to record that the stay is under the bilateral agreement (recorded by the Foreign Police inspectorate at the international airport). A traveller who has used up the Schengen 90 days in 180 and wants to continue under the agreement must come in person to the locally competent Foreign Police office, which verifies identity and arrival-date documents and makes a record in the EES system. A visa-free stay is not intended, except in some cases, for applying for a long-term visa or permit; those are applied for at a diplomatic mission.

A visa-free stay is not intended, except in some cases, to apply for a long-term visa or a long-term residence permit in the Czech Republic. You must apply for these residence permits at a diplomatic mission in the country that issued your travel document, where you have a long-term or permanent residence permit or of which you are a citizen.
