Documents
- Application (with name, date of birth or personal code, place of residence, contact information)
- Personal identification document (passport, identification card) – copy if sent by post
- Proof of birth (birth certificate or extract)
- Marriage certificate or divorce certificate if applicable
- Document proving change of personal name (unless due to marriage/divorce)
- Child's birth certificate if there are children under 18
- Documents confirming the right to acquire citizenship: confirmation of applicant’s or ancestor’s status as exile/deportee/fleeing from Latvia 1940-1990, not returned as permanent resident until 4 May 1990
- Civil status registration documents for ancestor’s Latvian citizenship on 17 June 1940: birth, marriage certificates or extracts, documents from 1935 census, tax administration, military service, or pre-war Latvian passport
