Which travellers require a transit visa/permission and which officially documented exemptions are important?

The e-Transit Visa is an e-Visa available to nationals of countries listed on the official e-Visa website; e-Visa is not available to foreigners of Pakistani origin/with Pakistani passports, nor to diplomatic/official passport or laissez-passer/international travel document holders. A foreigner who does not leave the ship while it halts at an Indian port does not need a transit visa.
