For the relevant traveller scope, is a visa, electronic authorisation, visa on arrival or no advance visa normally required?

An advance electronic visa is required: nationals of countries listed on the official e-Visa website are eligible to apply online (uploading photo and passport page); an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is sent by e-mail, and the traveller prints it and presents it at the Immigration Check Post, where the e-Visa is stamped on the passport.

What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

The 30-day e-Tourist Visa is valid for 30 days from first arrival, permits multiple entries within the ETA validity stamped in the passport, and the first arrival must fall between the ETA issue and expiry dates.

    For e-Tourist Visa (30 days), the validity would be 30 days from the date of your first arrival in India. Multiple entries will be granted within the e-Visa validity period stamped on your Passport. Your first arrival must be between the date of issue and expiry of ETA.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

The applicant's passport must have at least six months' validity and two blank pages; a return or onward ticket and sufficient spending money are also stated in the official conditions.

Applications are made through the official e-Visa website at least four days before arrival and no more than 120 days ahead; e-Visa permission is non-extendable and non-convertible.
