Key takeaway: Review the actual employment contract and the rules for your type of work. Company employment and household work must not be merged into one schedule of hours, leave or benefits; salary and savings depend on the written package and your costs.

Before you take the next step

  • Confirm the employer, occupation and employment regime.
  • Keep the signed salary and benefits schedule.
  • Check Saudi rules and Philippine verification separately.
  • Use current official case-specific assistance contacts.

Establish whether this is company or household employment

Saudi Arabia publishes a separate regulation for domestic workers and similar occupations. Do not transfer the ordinary Labour Law’s leave, overtime or end-of-service description to a household role. Identify the employer, occupation, contract and the regulatory route before comparing offers. Philippine contract-verification requirements and Saudi employment rules are separate checks; completing one should not be described as satisfying the other.

Check salary against the written contract

Request the basic salary, each allowance, payment date, housing arrangement, food and transport terms, deductions and leave in writing. Keep the signed version and later payslips. A quoted package should not be converted into guaranteed monthly savings or a fixed peso amount without your own costs and a dated exchange rate.

For Labour Law employment, read the working-time exceptions

The current HRSD text uses an ordinary maximum of eight actual hours daily or 48 weekly, depending on the adopted standard. It has separate rules for Ramadan, specified occupations, shifts and exceptional work. Overtime is described as the hourly wage plus 50% of basic wage; the text also permits compensatory paid leave with the worker’s consent under the applicable rules. This is not a universal 150% of every component of pay.

Do not turn the award formula into an unconditional payout

HRSD’s Labour Law text describes the end-of-service calculation using half a month’s wage for each of the first five years and a month for each later year. The same chapter sets distinct consequences for resignation and other circumstances. Ask for a calculation showing the wage basis, service dates, reason for ending employment and applicable provisions. This summary is for Labour Law employment and does not replace the domestic-worker regulation.

Use the appropriate verification and welfare service

MWO Riyadh lists separate skilled-worker and household-worker contract-verification and welfare services. Confirm the office that covers your workplace and the current service requirements before travelling or booking. Keep your passport and residence details, contract, payslips and a chronological record of the problem available. A listed assistance service is not a promise of free legal representation or a guaranteed outcome.

Get case-specific help before changing employer

This guide does not promise a transfer after a universal twelve-month period or a one-to-three-week processing time. Ask the responsible Saudi authority and the appropriate MWO for the procedure applicable to your contract and status before leaving or starting different employment. If there is an urgent threat, use current local emergency channels. Obtain contact details from the office’s current site instead of relying on a copied old number.

Questions before acting

Do household workers use the same leave and overtime rules as company workers?

Do not assume that. Domestic workers have a separate Saudi regulation; identify the applicable employment category first.

Can I rely on the old salary table or expected savings rate?

No. Those unsupported estimates have been removed. Compare the written offer, personal costs and a dated exchange rate.

Is an end-of-service formula a guarantee of payment in every case?

No. The applicable employment regime, service period and reason for termination or resignation must also be examined.

Corrections in this revision

The previous version included statements without sufficient direct support. This revision removes or corrects:

  • Unverified salary and remittance tables, fixed peso conversions and promised savings percentages.
  • Universal transfer rights, timelines and outdated emergency numbers.
  • A single labour-rights schedule applied to household and company workers; unconditional award and representation promises.

Review scope: legal and financial statements in this revised article. Recheck on a provider, professional, immigration or tax-rule change; reuse of dated figures requires a new check.
