What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This is the working visa for assigned journalists, listed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a working visa sub-type. In practice it is the press visa used by international media members travelling to Türkiye for journalistic work, obtained from Turkish missions abroad after the Directorate of Communications has approved a temporary press accreditation.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

An employing media organisation is essential. The application requires an assignment letter from it confirming that the applicant is assigned to work as a journalist in Türkiye, addressed to the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications, describing the professional activity, stating the journalist's title and exact assignment dates, signed on official letterhead and dated within the last three months. A letter of introduction in Turkish from the Embassy or Consulate in Türkiye of the media organisation's country is also required.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

What is decisive is the assignment and the accreditation, not a skill or salary test. The accreditation is for international media members travelling temporarily to Türkiye for professional purposes, the applicant must be assigned as a journalist by an employing media organisation, and a curriculum vitae is required.

Limits of the record
  • Neither source states a salary, experience or qualification threshold for the press visa.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pages read here do not describe the press visa application requirements separately from the general working-visa information.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permission is tied to the assignment: the accreditation covers the professional activity described in the assignment letter and the exact dates stated there, and each member of a media team must register individually and submit their own application. A temporary accreditation card, where approved, is valid for up to three months. The official source does not state whether the journalist may work for another organisation or any family position.
