How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The residence permit for this purpose is issued only once and can be issued for a maximum of one year. A short-term residence permit is otherwise issued for a maximum two-year period each time. A short-term residence permit is refused, cancelled or not renewed where one or more of its conditions are not met or no longer apply, where it is used outside its purpose, where there is a current removal decision or entry ban to Türkiye, or upon violation of the rules on periods lived outside Türkiye. In calculating the eight years of continuous residence needed for a long-term residence permit, the full duration of residence permits other than student permits is taken into account.
