Which athletes, coaches, technicians, officials or other sports professionals does the pathway cover?

The Thai Transit Visa category "S" is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to participate in sports activities, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives sportsmen and sportswomen as the examples. The page does not extend the category by name to coaches, technicians, referees or officials. It does record that a sports coach required by the Thai Government is a purpose of the separate Non-Immigrant Visa category "O".

What sporting level, achievement, professional status, recognition or other sports-specific condition distinguishes the pathway?

No sporting level, ranking, professional status or competition tier is stated. What distinguishes the route on this page is that it is a transit-type visa granted for participation in sports activities, with a short permitted stay, and that a stay scheduled to last longer than one month is redirected to the Non-Immigrant Visa category "O" instead. The financial evidence asked of transit applicants is 10,000 Baht per person or 20,000 Baht per family, lower than the 20,000 and 40,000 Baht required of Non-Immigrant applicants.
