What maximum stay, rolling-period rule, validity and entry rules apply?

The Embassy states that a single-entry O visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance, and that a multiple-entry visa is valid for one year. The Ministry's national page states instead that single-entry and multiple-entry Non-Immigrant visas are valid for three months, with one year additionally possible for multiple entry, and that the holder is initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless the Office of Immigration Bureau instructs otherwise. The two official statements about validity are not reconciled by either page. Neither page sets a rolling-period limit for this purpose.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

Three purpose-specific items are required: proof of involvement in the litigation or judicial proceedings as complainant, aggrieved party, accused, plaintiff or defendant, or a letter from the inquiry officer in charge of the case or from the authority concerned confirming the applicant's involvement; financial evidence (bank statements, proof of earnings or third-party sponsorship) of 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family; and a travel booking confirmation. Every O applicant also uploads a signed declaration form, passport pages with all travel records for the past 12 months, proof of current residency, and a picture holding the passport photo page. The passport must be valid for not less than 6 months (18 months for a one-year visa). The page requires no accommodation booking or insurance for this purpose.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

Permission is obtained online through the Thai e-Visa portal at https://thaievisa.go.th/, at the Embassy or Consulate covering the applicant's residency; the Budapest mission's district is Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo. The Embassy's fee is 70 euro for a single entry and 175 euro for multiple entries, both non-refundable, while the Ministry's national page states 2,000 Baht and 5,000 Baht; the two figures are not reconciled. Once in Thailand, extension is possible: those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit counting from the date of entry, applied for at the Office of Immigration Bureau and granted at the discretion of the immigration officer, and anyone wanting to stay longer than 90 days must file at a Thai consular mission abroad or at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok. Neither page describes changing to another visa category from this one.
