What education or training is this pathway designed for?

This route is the Thai Non-Immigrant ED visa used for formal enrolment at an educational institution in Thailand. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists three formal-education purposes of entry: to study at primary, elementary and secondary school; to study for a Bachelor's degree or higher; and to study for a vocational, technical or university diploma below a Bachelor's degree.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

The institution must accept the applicant in writing. For basic education, a letter from the relevant authority under the Ministry of Education or an International School is required, plus a letter confirming enrolment details from the school; for a Bachelor's degree or higher, a letter from the university and a letter confirming enrolment details from the university; for a vocational, technical or diploma course below Bachelor's level, the same pair from the institute or university. Each enrolment letter must be signed by an authorised person with a copy of the signer's ID card or passport, and a transcript or letter of acceptance is also listed.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

One financial test is set and it covers both study and living costs: financial evidence covering tuition fees and living expenses, in the form of bank statements for the past three months showing a balance of no less than 30,000 THB, issued within one month. The official source states no health insurance, no separate tuition receipt and no attendance or full-time-study condition.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The duration of visa printed against the whole list of studying purposes is 3 months, and a single-entry ED visa is valid for 3 months from the issue date. The official source describes no extension mechanism, no renewal at the Immigration Bureau and no post-study permission; the separate Non-ED Plus arrangement covers international students at bachelor's degree level or above.
