LTR — Highly Skilled Professional

3.4 Highly skilled professionals shall:

15) Other industries in which the foreign applicants for the qualification endorsement must work with special expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1) Research and development in targeted industries or technologies, such as Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Advanced Material Technology, Digital Technology 2) Instructors at vocational or higher education levels 3) Application of artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics in business operations 4) Planning and development of digital systems to enhance business productivity and services 5) Financial or Marketing Analyst or Advisory Services. 6) Environmental and energy management 7) Management or Advisory of incubation programs, acceleration programs, innovation, and startup ecosystems 8) Alternative dispute resolution services. 9) Promotion and support of economic development, trade, and investment by foreign chambers of commerce and organizations promoting trade and investment from foreign countries.”

3. 4. 1 Provide a contract of employment or services with a domestic or foreign enterprise with an assignment to work in Thailand; or provide evidence of employment with higher education or research institutes, specialized training institutes, or 4 public agencies in Thailand. The activity must be in the following targeted industries listed as follows :

(1) Average personal income of at least USD 80,000 per year for two years before the date of application.

(2) In the case that the applicant provides evidence of graduation with a Master's degree or equivalent or higher in science and technology, or having expertise in the field of work in Thailand, the applicant must provide evidence of an average personal income of at least USD 40,000 per year for the two years before the date of application. An applicant who is a r e t i r e d s c i e n c e a n d t e c h n o l o g y professional may provide evidence of an average personal income of at least USD 40,000 per year for two years before retirement, mutatis mutandis.

(3) An applicant submitting documents of employment in public universities, public research agencies, public specialized training institutes, or other public agencies, will be waived for the minimum personal income requirement.

To determine if the company aligns with the targeted industry, review the list of targeted industries provided in the No.Por.3/2568 (TH) or the No.Por.3/2568 (EN) in Section 3.4, available on our website. You should carefully assess which industry your company fits into based on its primary business operations.

You should submit your application within 120 to 60 days prior to the expiration of your current permission to stay in order to obtain a qualification endorsement letter from the BOI.

It depends on whether the new company's business meets the LTR targeted industry criteria. If it does, we can assist LTR-H holders in changing employers without canceling their visa. To do so, they must notify the LTR staff by email ltr@boi.go.th at least 1 month before ending the contract with the previous company. If the new company does not meet the LTR criteria, the LTR visa will need to be terminated.

If Highly Skilled Professionals wish to add a company (not as their main employer), they may submit a request through the LTR system to add an additional employer by going to the account and click on the work permit the click a button “add”

Wealthy Global Citizens, Wealthy Pensioners, Highly Skilled Professionals and Dependents types are included, except for those in the Work-from-Thailand Professionals category, as they are required to be remote workers according to our criteria.

Unfortunately, you cannot apply for a digital work permit without having an employment certificate. The employment certificate is a required document for the application process.

2.2 Dependents of the alien persons according to Item 2.1 who are the legitimate spouse, parents, and children under 20 years old or legal dependents of the primary LTR Visa holder.

Even though the LTR Visa is valid for 10 years, the Immigration Bureau initially grants a stay permit for the first 5 years in accordance with the announcement. You must reconfirm your eligibility to extend the LTR Visa for the remaining 5 years (the second validation does not require a visa fee).

The application and processing for the LTR visa are free of charge. However, once your application is approved, you will need to make a full payment of 50,000 baht for the issuance of the LTR visa. This payment is due on the appointment date at the Immigration Bureau office located at TIESC in Bangkok.

In case LTR visa holders stay in Thailand for 1 year without leaving the country, they need to file TM.95 (1-year report) at the Immigration Office instead of TM.47 (90-day report). This is one of the benefits of the LTR visa. However, TM.30 (Notification of residence for housemaster, owner, possessor or hotel manager where the foreigner has stayed) is still required.

Yes, maintaining a TM30 is required. The house owner, householder, or hotel manager who receives a foreigner permitted to stay temporarily in Thailand must report to the immigration office or through the website www.immigration.go.th within 24 hours of the foreigner's arrival.
