What education or training is this pathway designed for?

Study by overseas Chinese students at Taiwan universities/colleges, vocational schools or high schools and below: students jointly assigned while still outside Taiwan by the Ministry of Education or the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students; students individually assigned to high schools and below after arrival by the Ministry of Education or a county/city Bureau of Education; and students who apply directly to universities/colleges on their own.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

Applicants must be determined by the Overseas Community Affairs Council as qualified overseas Chinese students and be assigned to local schools by the Ministry of Education or the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students, which issues the notice of assignment. Students applying on their own may only apply to universities/colleges approved by the Ministry of Education to admit overseas Chinese students independently, and the admission permit must be issued by the admitting school.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students. Proof of financial support, the purpose of visiting Taiwan, guarantee by references in Taiwan, parental consent or proof of no criminal record may be required case by case. Students already studying in Taiwan must also present the record of enrolment and registration and transcripts; those resuming study must prove both suspension and resumption.
