What education or training is this pathway designed for?

Non-EU/EFTA nationals who are required to complete an internship as part of their studies; the residence permit is granted only if the internship forms an integral part of their studies. SEM also lists internships and training in multinational companies (knowledge transfer) and compulsory placements while studying among the exceptions to the admission requirements.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

The intern is placed with a Swiss company; applications are generally submitted via an organisation such as IAESTE or AIESEC, which places interns with Swiss companies and supports the students while in Switzerland.
