What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is for people who are in Sweden, have visited an employer there and been hired to a job in a profession with a labour shortage, and want a work permit without leaving Sweden.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Yes. The applicant needs an employment contract signed by both the applicant and the employer; the employer must have an urgent need for the applicant's skills, meaning the business cannot be fully functional if the applicant must travel back to apply; and the reason for being in Sweden must be to meet an employer (not tourism or visiting friends or relatives, even if a job offer is received during the visit).

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

There must be high demand for labour in the profession, and the applicant must earn a monthly salary of at least SEK 34,470, corresponding to 90 per cent of the current median salary published by Statistics Sweden.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

Family members who will be moving to Sweden to live with the worker can apply at the same time as the work-permit application made after visiting an employer. The official source does not state the scope of work allowed or whether the holder is tied to the employer.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The work permit can be granted for a maximum of two years, not longer than the employment contract and never longer than the passport is valid. It can be extended. The official source does not state a longer-term residence direction.
