What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is for employees of a business outside the EU/EEA who are going to work for that business in Sweden as a manager (a person in a leadership position who primarily manages the business's administration under the board, shareholders or equivalent) or as a specialist (a person with specialised knowledge important to the business's operations, technology or management).

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The employer is the business outside the EU/EEA that already employs the applicant: an employment contract from that employer, for the job in the country of origin, is required. The applicant then works as a manager or specialist at a business in Sweden that is established in Sweden and is a subsidiary of that employer, or a subsidiary of a business within the same group.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The applicant must have the professional qualifications and experience required for the manager or specialist assignment, must have been employed for at least three months without interruption at the time of the transfer, must work for the business in Sweden for more than 90 days, and must receive salary and other terms at least at the level for employees posted to Sweden.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

A granted permit gives the right to live and work in Sweden as long as it is valid. Family members (spouses, registered partners, cohabiting partners and children under 18) can apply at the same time; if granted, adult family members and children who turn at least 16 during the current year may work. The official source does not state whether the holder may change employer or work outside the intra-corporate assignment.

Limits of the record
  • The page does not state explicitly whether the holder may change employer or work outside the intra-corporate assignment.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

An ICT permit is granted for the period for which work is offered, up to a maximum of three years, and never beyond passport validity. No ICT permit can be granted once the maximum intra-corporate transfer period (three years for managers or specialists) has been reached; the person must then leave the EU/EEA area and apply for a new ICT permit. The official source does not state a longer-term residence direction.
