  • Salary requirement
To meet the salary requirement, you must have a monthly salary/wages of at least SEK 34,470. This corresponds to 90 percent of the current median salary that Statistics Sweden publishes in June of each year.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permit is tied to the employer and profession: a new job with another employer requires a new application, and a change of profession, duties or working conditions invalidates the permit; work for a new employer may start once a new application is submitted before the old permit expires. Family (spouses, registered or cohabiting partners, children under 21) can apply at the same time; adult family members and children turning at least 16 that year may work.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

A work permit is granted for a maximum of two years, not longer than the employment contract term or the passport validity, and can be extended. No longer-term residence direction is stated on the page.
