- Employment, placement or host agreement
A qualifying employment contract, hosting agreement or appointment with an eligible research, development, innovation or higher-education entity is required.
- Financial resources
The applicant must have sufficient resources for the applicant and accompanying family during residence.
- Minimum age
Law 14/2013 requires an adult applicant for a residence authorisation under its international-mobility section.
- Health-insurance requirement
The applicant must have public insurance or private health insurance with an insurer authorised to operate in Spain.
- Passport or travel-document requirement
A valid passport or travel document recognised by Spain is required.
- Work rights
The authorisation permits the approved research, development, innovation or teaching activity.
- Long-term residence or conversion path
After completing the research activity, the holder may remain for up to twelve months to seek suitable work or start a business, subject to insurance and resource conditions.
