What education or training is this pathway designed for?

  • Searched 3a05c24578381d9a.txt (infotujci.si "Na podlagi študija") for the level/type of education (university, secondary, language course, vocational training): the page only says the permit is for those coming "zaradi študija" (for study) and lists sub-permits by name; no type of education is stated. Restating "for study" would only repeat the route name.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

The applicant must submit a certificate of enrolment with the application, and for students the application may be lodged by the faculty. The official source does not state which types of institution or course qualify.

Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

Yes. Holders of a study residence permit may work in Slovenia through a student employment service or may also take up employment alongside their studies. To be regularly employed full-time, the employer must obtain an information sheet (consent to employment) issued by the Employment Service of Slovenia, and the student must obtain a note on the residence card at the administrative unit (access to the labour market). The official source does not state the family position.

Limits of the record
  • No limit on weekly working hours is stated on the official pages
  • Family position of students is not stated on the study permit page

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The study permit is issued for the duration of the study or education programme, but for no longer than one year, and can be extended if all conditions continue to be met; the extension must be applied for before the current permit expires. Third-country nationals who completed studies at a higher-vocational or higher-education institution in Slovenia within the last two years and obtained at least that level of education can get a temporary residence permit to look for employment or self-employment (incl. setting up a business), issued for at most 9 months and not extendable; work is not allowed on it (only job-seeking), and before it expires the holder must obtain another suitable permit (e.g. a single permit for employment or self-employment) or leave Slovenia. A student may also apply for a single residence and work permit without waiting for the study permit to expire.
