What education or training is this pathway designed for?

A traineeship: for a third-country national who has completed higher vocational or higher education (level 6 SOK) or is enrolled in a higher-education programme, and is admitted to a traineeship programme in Slovenia to gain knowledge, practical experience and insight into the working environment, concluding a first employment contract with the employer where the traineeship is done.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

An employer or contracting party in Slovenia must sign an employment contract (or civil-law contract) for the traineeship and provide a traineeship programme; a positive opinion on the programme from an economic association, the competent chamber or the competent ministry is required, unless one of these bodies organises the training.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

The applicant must have sufficient means of subsistence and appropriate health insurance (general conditions), a traineeship programme, and proof of education at least at level 6 SOK obtained in the two years before applying, or proof of enrolment in a study programme leading to at least level 6 SOK.
