How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The first permit is issued for the transfer period set in the employment contract and transfer act, but for no more than one year; it can be renewed under the same conditions, but total residence may not exceed three years for managers and specialists or one year for trainee employees. Residence as an intra-corporate transferee does not count towards the five years of continuous residence required for permanent residence.
