What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is temporary residence for the purpose of seasonal work, granted to a third-country national taking up seasonal employment in Slovakia.

See recorded sources
  • Act 404/2011, Article 23(4)
Temporary residence for the purpose of seasonal work may be granted by a police department for a third country national following to the fulfilment of the conditions according to par. 1 maximum for 180 days during 12 consecutive months.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The seasonal worker must submit the work contract with the employer as proof of purpose.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

Seasonal employment is work tied to a time of year with substantially higher volume in listed fields such as agriculture, forestry and fisheries, industrial production, construction, and accommodation/catering. For seasonal temporary residence, Act §23(4) applies the §23(1) employment condition, which requires confirmation that a vacancy may be filled; this is not proof that every case undergoes a separate labour-market test. The distinct short-term work-permit regime is not the same residence authorisation.

Limits of the record
  • The captured field list and distinction between work permit and residence come from the Migration Information Centre; the legally controlling §23(1)/(4) text proves the residence confirmation condition. No salary, qualification or universal shortage-test threshold follows from these sources.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

A seasonal-work residence holder cannot apply for a change of purpose at a police department; temporary residence is cancelled if the holder performs a different activity than the one for which it was granted, unless listed provisions provide otherwise. The official source does not state whether family members may accompany.

Limits of the record
  • Family accompaniment for seasonal workers is not stated in the captured sources.
  • Change of employer is not addressed in the captured sources.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

If the travel document is valid for less than 180 days, residence is granted only for its validity. Renewal is possible only for a period which, with previous residence and exempt seasonal work, does not exceed 180 days in 12 consecutive months and where further residence is needed to complete the seasonal work; the renewal application must be filed in person at least 30 days before expiry. The official source does not state a longer-term residence direction.
