This route is for trainees employed by an overseas company who undergo training in Singapore; the official checklist asks for proof of the relationship between the local and overseas company and the trainee's overseas employment contract.

Limits of the record
  • The authorized capture is a document checklist rather than a full eligibility/profile page.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The local employer must submit a letter stating the training purpose and duration, a detailed training plan (department, period of attachment, trainee's duties) and that the company will be responsible for sending the trainee back to their home country/region once the training is over, together with documents showing the relationship between the local and overseas company (e.g. annual reports, tax invoices, contracts).

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The Training Work Permit is for foreign trainees or students to undergo training in Singapore; the employer applies for it and must cancel it if the worker no longer works for them; passes for family are not available.

Limits of the record
  • MOM does not state explicitly whether the permit restricts the holder to a particular occupation or sector.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?
