Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

Student's Pass holders may work only if they meet MOM's requirements. At listed institutions, a full-time matriculated or registered student holding a Student's Pass and aged 14 or over can work during vacation without a work pass, and during term time either up to 16 hours a week or under an internship or industrial attachment that counts towards graduation. Exchange students are not allowed to work, and working without a valid work pass is an offence for foreign students. The official source does not state the family position.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

After studies end and the Student's Pass expires, a work pass is needed to work in Singapore, applied for by the employer; a graduate from an institute of higher learning seeking employment in Singapore is an eligible category for an ICA Long-Term Visit Pass. The official source does not state how long a Student's Pass lasts or how it is renewed.
