Temporary residence on the basis of education covers: studying, schooling, learning the Serbian language (to continue schooling or studying in Serbia), international student exchange, international pupil exchange, scientific research, and other scientific and educational activities (training for new occupations or professions, scientific training, etc.).

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

For studies: enrolment in a higher educational institution accredited by the Ministry of Education, with the duration of the study programme stated. For schooling: enrolment in a primary or secondary school verified by the Ministry of Education and a certificate that the institution is verified in Serbia. For Serbian-language study: a course with a legal entity or entrepreneur registered in Serbia. Exchanges: a certificate of participation in an international exchange scheme issued by a competent institution.

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

Proof of subsistence and proof of health insurance for the planned temporary residence are required; for extension of study-based residence, a certificate of attendance at the study programme with year of enrolment and duration of studies is required. Accepted subsistence proof includes, for example, bank-account funds in a Serbian bank in the amount of the minimum salary in Serbia for the year of application.
