What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The mobile ICT permit attests the holder's right to reside and work in Romania as an ICT worker in long-term mobility; the holder of a valid ICT permit issued by another EU member state may work as an ICT worker, within a mobility, at the service beneficiary in Romania. Holders of a mobile ICT permit may request family reunification even if their temporary residence permit is valid for less than one year.

  • Whether the holder may change employer or service beneficiary is not stated.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The right of stay as an ICT worker in long-term mobility is extended for the whole duration of the posting in Romania, without exceeding the planned stay in the first member state or the validity of the ICT permit issued by that state. A further extension is granted where the initial posting in Romania or the validity of the first state's ICT permit has been extended, on presentation of the required documents. A foreigner whose right of stay as an ICT worker in long-term mobility is extended receives a mobile ICT permit. The official source does not state a longer-term residence direction.
