What education or training is this pathway designed for?

For third-country nationals and stateless persons who have completed scientific research or development work in Poland, to seek employment or start business activity; the application must be submitted immediately after completing the research, during legal stay in Poland as a researcher.

What type of institution/course must accept or enrol the applicant?

A scientific institution based in Poland, where the research or development work was carried out, must issue a document confirming its completion; the applicant must be staying on a temporary residence permit for scientific research (Art. 151(1)).

What are the most important financial or study-related conditions: tuition, funds, insurance, full-time study, attendance or equivalent?

Health insurance, a secured place of residence, and funds for living and return: more than 1,010 PLN per month with no dependants, or 823 PLN per month per person including dependants, plus return costs of 200 PLN (neighbouring country), 500 PLN (non-neighbouring EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland) or 2,500 PLN (other countries) per person.

Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

The permit is for job seeking or preparing a business; it is not granted if the applicant has already started work or found an employer ready to hire them, and the holder must notify the voivode in writing within 15 working days if not pursuing the permit purpose, for example on commencing work in Poland. Granted for 9 months, once, directly after completing the research; it cannot be renewed, and a holder wishing to stay must apply for a different residence permit before it expires.
