The permit is granted for the period necessary to achieve the declared purpose of residence, from more than 3 months to 3 years. It is not renewed automatically; a foreigner who wishes to continue staying in Poland should apply for a residence permit (for the same or a different purpose) before its expiry, if they meet the requirements applicable to granting it. Under Directive 2003/109/EC, the permit granted in the simplified procedure for 3 years can be renewed only once. The official source does not state any post-study work or residence possibilities.
