Which exceptional-talent, academic, scientific, artistic, technological, cultural or other profiles does the pathway target?

The route targets foreigners with knowledge in science, technology and innovation, or in highly specialised education projects, through CONCYTEC (the national science and technology authority).

What achievements, recognition, awards, publications, reputation or other evidence establishes the required level?

The required level is shown by a document issued and approved by CONCYTEC accrediting the applicant's status as a researcher; the law refers to recognised knowledge and experience in science, technology or innovation.

Is an employer, nominator, recognised body, peer group or government endorsement required?

Yes: CONCYTEC must accredit the researcher status, and a public or private institution must issue a letter stating the activities to be carried out in Peru for one year or more, signed by its legal representative, with registry entry and an active RUC (tax ID) with SUNAT.

Can the holder change employer, work independently, establish a business or conduct other professional activity? What is the family position?

The holder may carry out any income-generating activity, dependent or independent, in the public or private sector. Family members of a resident may opt for resident or another status if they meet its requirements; the holder's status does not extend automatically to them. Family Resident status allows dependent or independent lucrative activity.

What duration, renewal and accelerated or normal longer-term residence pathway is officially stated?

Granted for up to 365 days, extendable. After residing 3 consecutive years in Peru a researcher may apply to change to Permanent status, showing minimum economic solvency of S/ 55,000.00 gross annual income for the prior tax year, plus CONCYTEC accreditation and an institution letter.
