Limits of the record
  • Whether the trainee may work outside the training is not stated.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The result is a Student Visa in the Occupational Trainee class for an institution sponsoring its students for training with government organisations, companies or other training circumstances. Applications are submitted manually with a sponsor undertaking, signed form, passport biopage and fee. The fee table lists USD 40, USD 75 for extension and USD 380 for late extension. The class paragraph only recommends consideration of a non-extendable visa lasting six months to one year; that wording does not establish an operative duration or bar on renewal, and an extension fee is listed separately. General extension rules require application well before expiry while in PNG, with no grace period.

Limits of the record
  • The approved initial duration and whether this trainee class is extendable remain unresolved; the handbook recommendation and fee table do not settle them.
  • No post-training work or longer-term residence entitlement is established.
