Can the student work? Under what major restrictions? What is the family position where clearly stated?

As a rule the student may not work in the Area during studies; master's-level or higher students may work part-time, including teaching or work in their field at the university where they study, and the permit is then treated as a work permit subject to that condition.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The permit lasts a single academic year; several extensions may be approved for the same degree up to 27 months; beyond that the student must re-apply after leaving for abroad, and total residence may not exceed a cumulative four years per degree (five years for a doctorate or post-doctorate). Extensions are filed through the Palestinian Registrar of Population representative in Ramallah at least two months before the academic year, with proof of prior-year study, means of support, tuition payment, residence and medical insurance. No post-study work or residence option is stated.
