If you are to work in Norway for more than 14 days

Performers, artists, musicians and their support staff do not need a residence permit if they are to have concerts or performances in Norway for a total of maximum 14 days during a calendar year. You or your client must notify the police in writing before you enter Norway.

The level is established by the engagement itself: a concrete offer of employment as a performer, musician or artist (or necessary support staff), normally full-time (37.5 hours per week; 21 hours per week is sufficient for musicians or dance bands), with pay not poorer than normal in Norway, e.g. at least NOK 341 373 per year pre-tax for musicians, circus performers and their necessary accompanying support staff.

The main rule is that you must have received an offer of full-time employment. Normally, this constitutes 37.5 hours per week. For musicians or dance bands, 21 hours per week is sufficient.

The pay and working conditions must not be poorer than is normal in Norway. This means that you must receive pay in accordance with the collective agreement for the industry in question. If no collective agreement applies to the industry, your pay cannot be poorer than is normal for someone in your occupation in the place you are to work. For example, musicians, circus performers and their necessary accompanying support staff must have a salary of at least NOK 341 373 per year pre-tax

Is an employer, nominator, recognised body, peer group or government endorsement required?

Yes, an employer or client: a concrete offer of employment for a specific, continuous period, from one or more employers or clients; periods without work or assignments cannot amount to more than 20 per cent of the time in Norway. Applicants aged 15 to 18 need the consent of their parents or another person with parental responsibility.
