What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

The legacy Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa route is closed except for people who already held it, are reapplying and are waiting for a residence-from-work visa. The associated residence pathway required the applicant to hold the Talent visa, have been employed in New Zealand by an accredited employer for at least 24 months while holding it, meet the historical salary threshold of NZD 55,000 or NZD 79,560 where the Talent visa application was made on or after 7 October 2019, and hold occupational registration where required. It is not the current Accredited Employer Work Visa and the retrieved page does not establish a current occupation list for this legacy route.

Limits of the record
  • The retrieved current page is principally the legacy residence-from-work page and does not reproduce all historical temporary Talent work-visa conditions.
  • No current occupation list or current AEWV equivalence is established; this route must remain labelled legacy.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

A current full-time job offer for work that is the employer's main business and makes the employer responsible for the work; reapplicants awaiting residence need a job offer of at least 12 months from the employer supporting the residence application; border-affected reapplicants need a job offer of at least 24 months from an accredited employer, an employer whose accreditation expired after 31 March 2021, or the employer that supported the initial visa.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The job must pay at least the minimum base salary in place when the initial visa was applied for: NZD $55,000 a year (before tax) if applied before 7 October 2019, or NZD $79,560 a year if applied on or after 7 October 2019; full or provisional occupational registration is needed if required for the occupation.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The holder must work in the specific occupation and for the specific employer in the job offer; changing employer requires a variation of conditions, with pay at least the salary threshold that applied when the work visa was applied for. The official source does not state whether family can accompany the holder of this work visa.
