Seasonal workers from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland doing temporary work in agriculture or horticulture for up to 24 weeks.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

A Dutch employer (company, organisation or Dutch branch of a foreign company, registered with the Chamber of Commerce where compulsory) acts as sponsor; IND recognition is not required. The employer must arrange proper housing, and the IND always asks UWV for a recommendation.

Your employer has first looked for an employee in the Netherlands and the EU/EEA member states. The employer has reported a vacancy for this purpose to an employer’s service point of the Employee Insurance Agency (in Dutch: Uitvoeringsinstituut Werknemersverzekeringen or UWV). Your employer will pay the standard wage that applies under the collective labour agreement (CAO) for this organisation or company.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The single permit (residence permit plus supplementary document) allows living and working only for the employer named in the supplementary document, under the conditions stated there. The official source does not state whether family members may accompany the holder.

The GVVA consists of a residence permit and a supplementary document. On the residence permit, it says in Dutch, 'Arbeid toegestaan conform aanvullend document' (work permitted as per supplementary document). The supplementary document also says for which employer you are allowed to work. And under which conditions you may work. With the residence document and supplementary document, you may live and work for your employer in the Netherlands.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The GVVA is valid for up to 24 weeks and never longer than the supplementary document. The official source does not state renewal or a longer-term residence direction.
