What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The permit allows work only for the employer named in the additional document and under the conditions set out there ('Free to work in accordance with the additional document'); on a change of employer the new employer must apply for a new residence permit. The official source does not state whether family members may accompany the holder.

Limits of the record
  • Family accompaniment is not clearly established on the page (only an application form for family members of an employee via a recognised sponsor is listed).
The residence permit says ‘Free to work in accordance with the additional document’ (in Dutch: Arbeid toegestaan conform aanvullend document). The additional document says for which employer you are allowed to work. It also sets out the conditions under which you are allowed to work.

If you change employers, your old employer must notify the IND as required. Your employer will deregister you, but it is your responsibility to check with your employer that you have been deregistered. Your new employer must apply for a new residence permit.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

Single permit valid for a maximum of 3 years (maximum 5 years once the holder has had a valid residence permit for work for 5 years); it can be extended before expiry; after 5 years with a residence permit the holder can apply for a permanent residence permit.
