An application for a visitor's visa may be made on entry into Nauru if the applicant is a national of a country covered by Regulation 16(4); any other applicant must apply before entry.

A visitor's visa may only be granted for: holiday; visiting friends or relatives; attending a convention, conference, seminar, workshop or similar meeting; engaging in cultural or sporting activities; and any other purpose the Director considers appropriate.

What important funds, accommodation, invitation, insurance, onward-travel or passport evidence may be required?

The applicant must hold a valid ticket for travel from Nauru to another country and any documents needed to enter the destination country, must give no grounds for a belief that they will contravene a visa condition, and must be able to show means of support if requested. All applicants from Australia and New Zealand must provide a sponsorship letter written and signed by a Nauruan citizen currently residing in Nauru; the sponsor is responsible for the applicant's activities in Nauru, including any breach of visa conditions.

Where/how is permission obtained when required, and under what important circumstances can a stay be extended or changed?

An application for a visitor's visa is made in Form 7 in Schedule 1; a national of a country covered by Regulation 16(4) may apply on entry into Nauru, and any other applicant must apply before entry. The fees are $50 for a period not exceeding 1 month, $150 for up to 2 months and $250 for up to 3 months. The official source does not state when a stay can be extended or changed.
