How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

The temporary residence permit is issued or renewed for the period of the traineeship, but no longer than 1 year, and may be renewed on the same conditions (renewal filed at least 2 months but not earlier than 4 months before expiry; at least 1 month for urgent renewal). After five years of continuous and legal residence in Lithuania a permanent resident's status can be obtained, and half of the stay as a trainee is counted in that residence period.
