  • Not established: the correction failed a second independent check (CAIXA_ERRADA: Faithful to the LANA quote, but the substance is that the employer must obtain a work licence (employer involvement, R2) plus a housing ban; 'foreigners employed in Libya' only restates the via, no job type.)

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Libyan Law No. 6/1987 (Article 12) requires anyone who employs a foreigner to notify the competent passport office of that employment within seven days of the foreigner starting work, and to notify the same office when the employment ends, within the same period.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The holder may not depart from the purpose for which entry or residence was authorised without written permission from the Director General of Passports and Nationality or his delegate. The foreigner's wife, his minor sons, his unmarried daughters, and the parents and minor siblings he supports have the right to the same residence granted to him.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation rejects opening any direct or indirect path to settle foreigners in Libya, under Law No. 24 of 2023 on combating the settlement of foreigners. That law also prohibits keeping a foreigner after his work ends and requires notifying the competent authorities as soon as it ends. The official source does not state a permit duration or renewal rule.
