What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is for overseas employers who must hold non-resident business licences under the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012 and who bring their employees to Jersey to fulfil a specific contractual obligation.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The overseas employer must have a signed contract of work with the customer in Jersey, employ only people aged 18 or over, adequately accommodate employees for their stay, and remain compliant with its Non-Resident Undertaking under the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012; if the undertaking is withdrawn, work permits issued against it cease to be valid.

The employee cannot switch employer, switch to other temporary work permit employment, extend the permit or accrue time towards indefinite leave to remain, and dependants cannot join them in Jersey.

The duration is no longer than the validity of the non-resident business licence or undertaking; the policy does not state a separate fixed maximum for this route. The employee cannot extend the permit or accrue time towards indefinite leave to remain.
