Limits of the record
  • Searched the ISA Technical Intern Training page (bb50b03c325b9c9a.txt), the ISA guide (efa0c49024c9dbf8.txt) and the SSW Q&A for the employer/implementing-organisation relationship of this TITP type; the captures only give the activity definition (certified training plan) and document lists, which say nothing about a job offer, employer or sponsor.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

Second-stage training must be in an occupation and task eligible for transition listed in the ministerial ordinance, the goals set in the first stage must have been achieved, and the second-stage goal is passing the practical test of the grade 3 skills test or an equivalent evaluation test; pay must be equal to or higher than that of Japanese workers and work using the skills after return home must be planned.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The period of stay is designated individually by the Minister of Justice, within a range not exceeding 2 years. Renewal: an application for extension of period of stay is filed by those already holding this status who continue its activities. Progression: moving from Technical Intern Training (ii) to (iii) is done by an application for change of status of residence, to be filed promptly. A trainee who has satisfactorily completed Technical Intern Training (ii) (completed 2 years 10 months or more under the plan) is exempt from the SSW(i) skills and Japanese tests when the intended work is related to the trainee's occupation/operation.
