What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?
Remuneration must be equal to or higher than that of Japanese nationals performing equivalent work, and Specified Skilled Workers must be 18 years of age or older. SSW(ii) does not follow automatically from SSW(i); it can be obtained directly by demonstrating the skills. Applicants need two years of practical experience as an assistant manager (deputy manager, sub-manager), including customer service, while instructing and supervising multiple part-time employees and SSW foreign nationals at a restaurant holding a business permit under the Food Sanitation Act; the guideline basically assumes five years since completing it, and it must not be more than ten years earlier. They must also pass the Food Service Field Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Proficiency Test and hold JLPT N3 or higher.

- Temporal limitation: text with an internal amendment of 30 May 2025; the transitional rule is restricted to the cohort described.
