What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

This route is for experienced construction workers who perform work and manage processes while supervising multiple skilled construction workers, in civil engineering (public facilities), building construction, and infrastructure facilities and equipment (telecommunications, gas, water and power).

The decisive requirements are passing the Construction field Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Test, Level 1 of the Skill Exam or the Single-Grade Skill Exam, and work experience as a manager (foreman) supervising multiple skilled construction workers on construction sites while overseeing the construction process.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

The status allows construction work and process management in civil engineering, building construction and infrastructure facilities and equipment while supervising multiple skilled construction workers, under an employment contract with a designated organisation. Job changes are allowed to another company in the same field; a different field requires passing that field's skills test, and changing the affiliated organisation requires a change-of-status application. Part-time work is not allowed. Family can be brought to Japan.

Granted for 3 years, 2 years, 1 year or 6 months, extended by a period-of-stay extension application to continue the same activity; there is no upper limit to the length of stay in Japan.
