This route is for medical work that by law must be performed by physicians, dentists or other legally qualified persons, such as physicians, dentists and nurses.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

Pharmacists, dental hygienists, radiological technologists, physical and occupational therapists, orthoptists, clinical engineers and prosthetists must be invited by a medical institution or pharmacy in Japan. Applicants submit materials outlining the institution where they will work (for hospitals or clinics requiring establishment permission, showing the permission date). What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

The holder must work as a Japanese-licensed physician, dentist, pharmacist, public health nurse, midwife, nurse, assistant nurse, dental hygienist, radiological technologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, orthoptist, clinical engineer or prosthetist, for pay at least equal to that of a Japanese national; assistant nurses may only work as training within 4 years of obtaining the Japanese licence. Physicians and dentists submit proof of their Japanese qualification.
