What education or training is this pathway designed for?

Curricular traineeships: traineeships that give training credits and are included in the study plans of universities or schools. Foreigners resident abroad entering to do a traineeship need no work nulla osta but a study or training entry visa.

A convention between a promoting body (university, upper secondary school, employment agency, training centre, etc.) and a host (company, professional firm, cooperative, public body, etc.), with a training plan; promoter and host each appoint a tutor.

How long does the status last, how is it renewed, and what officially documented post-study work or residence possibilities exist?

A valid study or vocational-training residence permit can be converted into a work residence permit at any time of the year and without numerical limits, as the 'decreto Cutro' removed the quota requirement for conversion. The official source does not state the permit duration or renewal for traineeships.

    I cittadini extracomunitari in possesso di un permesso di soggiorno per motivi di studio o di formazione professionale in corso di validità possono richiedere la conversione del proprio titolo in un permesso di soggiorno per motivi di lavoro. Il cd “decreto Cutro”(DL 20 marzo n. 23 convertito nella Legge 5 maggio 2023 n. 50) ha, infatti, soppresso la previsione che subordinava la conversione di tali permessi alla disponibilità di una quota prevista dal decreto flussi annuale. Ne consegue che tali permessi, purché ancora in corso di validità, possono ora essere convertiti in qualsiasi momento dell’anno e senza limiti numerici.
