What funds, insurance, onward travel or similar preparation is particularly important?

Korean applicants must possess a Korean passport valid for not less than 18 months, a return travel ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one, and sufficient funds for their livelihood during the stay in Italy, in conformity with Italian legislation; they must also hold medical and comprehensive hospitalisation and liability insurance valid for the whole period of stay in Italy and not have a criminal record.

How long can the person stay, can the programme be extended or repeated, and what happens when it ends?

Italy issues multiple-entry working-holiday visas valid for 12 months and permits a stay of a total period not exceeding 12 months from the date of entry. The visa is available only to those who have not previously been issued a working-holiday visa. Holders must apply for a permit of stay within 8 days of arriving in Italy; the permit is neither extendible nor convertible into a different kind of permit of stay, and does not entitle the holder to a family reunification visa.
