What type of worker, employment situation, occupation or professional activity is this pathway actually designed for?

Seasonal subordinate (employed) workers in the agricultural sector, citizens of the countries listed in art. 6(2)(a) and (b) of the DPCM, residing abroad.

Does the applicant need a job offer, employer, sponsor, transfer relationship or other employer involvement? What is important about that employer relationship?

The checked official sources did not provide enough route-specific evidence to confirm the employer, sponsor or transfer relationship required.

What are the few decisive professional characteristics of the pathway: occupation, qualifications, experience, salary, skill level, shortage status, labour-market condition or equivalent?

Seasonal quota (agriculture and tourism combined): 88.000 units for 2026, 89.000 for 2027, 90.000 for 2028. For agriculture 47.000 units per year are reserved as a priority for applications filed by the listed employer organisations. 5.000 units in 2026 (6.000 in 2027, 7.000 in 2028) are reserved for workers who entered for seasonal work at least once in the previous five years and for whom the employer requests a multi-year seasonal nulla osta.

What work does the permission allow? Is the holder tied to an employer, occupation or sector? Can family accompany where clearly established?

Only seasonal work in the agricultural and tourism-hotel sectors. The holder is not tied to a single employer: within the nine-month limit the nulla osta is extended and the permit renewed for a new seasonal job offered by the same or another employer, without returning home for a new visa. The official source does not state whether family members may accompany the holder.

Limits of the record
  • Family accompaniment for seasonal workers is not stated in the sources.

How long is the permission normally granted for, how is it renewed, and what longer-term residence direction exists if officially stated?

The permit for one or more seasonal contracts cannot exceed 9 months. It can be converted, outside the quotas and at any time of year, into a non-seasonal subordinate-work permit if the worker has done at least 3 months of seasonal work (agriculture: at least 13 days a month for a total of 39 days) and has an offer of fixed-term or permanent employment of at least 20 hours a week.

Limits of the record
  • No longer-term residence direction for seasonal permits themselves is stated beyond conversion.
